Merseyside Police's professional standards department is reviewing a complaint after a video circulated online that appears to show an officer punching a teenage boy in Speke, Liverpool, GB News reports.
The force said officers were sent to Alder Wood Avenue on Friday evening, the night before Halloween, after reports that a group of around 20 young people had blocked roads with bins, set off fireworks at people, smashed windows and tried to start fires. The footage appears to show an officer striking a youth in the stomach and chest before handcuffing him and leading him away.
The force said a complaint had been received on Saturday, so it would be inappropriate to comment further, and warned that a short clip may not show the full context. It urged the public not to speculate or spread rumours while the circumstances are established.
