The death toll from a Russian strike on a school used as a shelter in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhia region, has risen to 53 as rescue teams continue searching on the fifth day, Ukrainian officials say. Earlier reporting put the toll at about 50. Emergency crews are still clearing rubble for missing people while local authorities manage funerals and aid. Separately, Ukraine said it had returned 13 children from Russian-occupied areas with help from an NGO. The strike has become one of the deadliest recent attacks on a civilian site in the south-east, intensifying calls for stronger air defences.
