Cybercrime squad investigates ‘major’ breach of NSW Health server

·

Specialist detectives are investigating a cyber breach at NSW Health that authorities have declared a major incident, SBS News reports. NSW Police said the State Crime Command's cybercrime squad was alerted to the alleged breach on Friday 30 October and has set up Strike Force Civic, working with NSW Health and Cyber Security NSW.

Cyber Security NSW said the attack affected a single isolated server and that no patient data had been compromised or was currently at risk. State Transport Minister John Graham told ABC radio it was a relief that no personal information had been exposed, but said the incident should serve as a warning to government, business and individuals alike. It follows an incident in March 2025 in which an account used automation to download more than 9,000 files from the state's NSW JusticeLink court platform.
