Argentina's State Intelligence Secretariat, known as SIDE, has launched an unusual public campaign to recruit new officers, the Buenos Aires Times reports, citing AFP. The AI-generated posters, styled like vintage military recruitment adverts, carry the slogan "We're looking for the best", and the drive is also running on social media.
Presidential spokesman Adrián Ravier said the call is open to Argentines with a secondary education and involves assessments and training at the intelligence academy, citing a turbulent international climate and Argentina's strategic position in the South Atlantic and towards Antarctica. He did not say how many posts were available. The campaign comes as President Javier Milei's government has cut about 81,000 public-sector jobs, roughly 16% of the national workforce, while SIDE's budget has risen to more than ten times its 2023 level.
