Brazil's electoral court has moved 2,033 voting sections to new buildings ahead of the presidential runoff on 25 October, affecting about 592,000 voters, The Rio Times reports, citing data published by the court on Sunday and reporting by Folha de S.Paulo. The court said the changes followed storm damage and repairs to some buildings, and that local electoral zones decide on moves.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's coalition asked the court on Sunday to publicise the changes widely and help voters reach their new polling places, pointing to 21 per cent abstention in the first round. Voting is compulsory for most adults in Brazil. Voters can check their address through the court's online self-service portal or its e-Título app. Lula faces Flávio Bolsonaro in the runoff.
