Russia is prepared to return to three-way negotiations with Ukraine and the United States once its National Unity Day holiday on 4 November has passed, Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov said on Sunday, according to The Kyiv Independent.
Ushakov played down expectations, describing the first meeting after the pause as a trial run and saying a peace agreement still needed work. His comments follow President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement on 23 October that a new round was expected in the first half of November, possibly in Abu Dhabi.
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Zelensky and European leaders on 20 October, and Witkoff held talks with Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg the following day. Moscow continues to demand that Kyiv give up the parts of Donbas it still controls, while Ukraine has accepted several US ceasefire proposals.
