Russian air defences shot down 72 drones heading for Moscow overnight into 29 October, according to the city's mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, the Kyiv Independent reports.
Sobyanin said 57 drones were brought down over Moscow Oblast in roughly 90 minutes late on Wednesday, followed by another 15 about two hours later. He reported no casualties or damage, and his figures could not be independently verified. Russian authorities only report interceptions, so the total launched is unclear.
Russia's aviation agency restricted flights at Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, later lifting the limits at Zhukovsky, and two flights from Istanbul turned back. The independent Telegram channel Astra reported explosions near Naro-Fominsk, south-west of the capital. Ukrainian drone attacks have disrupted Moscow's airports several times this month.
