A Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked the African Democratic Congress leadership under former Senate President David Mark and voided former vice-president Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ticket, AllAfrica reports. Judge Peter Lifu ruled the Mark caretaker committee that ran the primary was illegal and ordered INEC not to recognise decisions from a July 2025 NEC meeting.
All ADC candidates filed for 2027 were also removed in the judgment. The suit was brought by former deputy national chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe. Analysts expect appeals toward the Supreme Court before voting begins in January. If upheld, a major opposition vehicle would be barred from the ballot unless the party reconstitutes under court-approved leadership.
