Two associations representing senior administrative staff at Ghana's universities have suspended their strike after the government addressed about 80% of their complaints, the Ghanaian Times reports via AllAfrica. Members of GAUA, the Ghana Association of University Administrators, and of TUSAAG, which represents senior administrators at technical universities, were due back at work on Monday while talks continue on the remaining issues.
Their demands included a market premium, corrections to placements on the public sector pay structure, a 40% allowance for professionals at technical and public universities, an extension of the retirement rollover and a one-off research allowance. The GAUA president, Rev Kwaku Karikari Amoah said the government had responded positively on the market premium, and that the outstanding matters had been referred to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
