Peel police charge 10 in carjacking and luxury car theft network

·

Peel Regional Police say they have broken up a violent network behind carjackings and luxury vehicle thefts across the Greater Toronto Area, Global News reports.

Ten people, two of them youths, face 128 charges after an eight-month investigation called Project High Guard. Police allege the group was linked to 21 carjackings and thefts of high-end vehicles between June 2025 and April 2026, some of which left victims seriously hurt, with suspects using knives, guns and assaults.

Detectives said the network had separate roles for finding targets, organising and carrying out robberies, recruiting young people through social media and selling the stolen cars. Raids on 3 September recovered 15 stolen vehicles worth about $1.4m, along with weapons, drugs and reprogramming devices; one car was found heading for export through the Port of Montreal.
