Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the riots in France show Hamas is now on the streets of Paris, in a French television interview reported by GB News.
Mr Netanyahu said President Emmanuel Macron had phoned him on the day of the 7 October attacks to urge diplomacy, and that he had replied that Hamas was like Islamic State and that Paris would see it on its own streets if it was not stopped. He also predicted that the unrest could shift French politics towards a right-wing government.
His comments came as French authorities imposed partial curfews in several places, including parts of Paris and the northern towns of Lille, Douai, Wattignies and Denain. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has not ruled out declaring a state of emergency if the unrest continues.
