Police in Bengaluru say they have solved last week's explosion at a building site on Jeremiah Road in Pulakeshinagar, arresting a 27-year-old bakery salesman accused of plotting with two childhood friends to kill his uncle, The Hindu reports.
The blast on 20 October injured two workers. Investigators say a home-made device, built in Raichur using firecracker powder and hidden inside a torch, was packed in a parcel and left at a shop near the site. The intended target, Allauddin M., reportedly asked a colleague to open it during lunch.
Police said the suspect bore a grudge over property and money disputes and a family matter. The use of an explosive device had prompted speculation about terrorism, and the National Investigation Agency joined the inquiry. The city's police commissioner said about 1,200 officers worked on the case.
