Jeff Bezos's rocket company Blue Origin has put back the return to flight of its New Glenn heavy launcher to January 2027, missing its earlier goal of the end of this year, CNBC reports.
Chief executive Dave Limp told staff in an internal memo on Wednesday, seen by the broadcaster, that rebuilding the company's launch pad at Cape Canaveral had taken longer than planned, partly because of bad weather over the summer. The pad was badly damaged in a major explosion in May.
Limp described the new date as a small adjustment and said getting New Glenn flying again remained the company's top priority. The heavy-lift rocket has been grounded since the May accident, and the latest schedule means it will not fly again before the new year.
