Thirty-two UK government online services have been taken offline and four more are partly unavailable while officials deal with a critical security weakness in the PHP programming language, a minister told the House of Lords, GB News reports.
Downing Street said no major public-facing critical services were affected and stressed that the outages did not mean any systems had been hacked. A spokeswoman said government experts were working with OpenAI and international partners on the problem, but declined to list the services involved.
The Office for Budget Responsibility has also taken its website down as a precaution while it upgrades to a patched version of PHP. A minister said the security of next week's Budget had not been compromised. Cyber security officials warned British organisations about the flaw on Wednesday.
