A former digital forensics officer who worked on Victoria Police child abuse investigations has been charged with possessing and accessing child abuse material, The Sydney Morning Herald reports. Vincent Manner, 57, faces 23 charges, including two of misconduct in public office and 11 of failing to provide information under a warrant, and is due before Bendigo court on 4 November.
He worked in the role from 2016 until he was stood down in August 2025, and resigned that November while under investigation. His arrest triggered a year-long audit, known as Operation Turnberry, in which police reviewed at least 112 court cases that might have been affected by irregularities in how devices were handled. Police say the review is complete. Victoria Legal Aid said it knew of at least eight cases that were delayed.
