School and university student groups in France have said they will keep protesting after meeting Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and education ministers in Paris on Monday, Politico Europe reports.
The government offered to look at reforming Parcoursup, the university admissions platform that students call opaque and unfair, from 2028. It also promised money to renovate schools, 15,000 more higher-education places in industry, health and technical subjects, and a cap of 28 pupils per class in the first year of upper secondary school.
Students had demanded up to 250,000 extra places, more teachers and an overhaul of university selection. The high school group Les Lycéens! called for further protests on 31 October and 5 November, and the student union UNEF accused the government of missing the point.
Student blockades earlier this month were among the first signs of wider unrest in France.
