US prosecutors believe an alleged Iranian operative charged over plots against Jewish targets in Europe and the United States has continued to plan attacks from his New York prison cell, The National reports, citing Justice Department documents first reported by The Times. Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al Saadi, 32, who holds Iranian and Iraqi citizenship, is accused of using coded phone messages to direct others, arrange about $1m in money transfers and oversee propaganda videos.
Al Saadi was extradited from Turkey and charged in New York in May with six terrorism-related offences linked to Kataib Hezbollah and Iran's Revolutionary Guard. He is also alleged to be behind a group blamed for firebomb attacks on Jewish sites in London and on synagogues in Europe. He is being held without bail and is expected to stand trial next summer.
