A Sydney judge has cast doubt on arguments put forward to reduce the sentence of Glenn Gary Cameron, who attacked eight women at knifepoint in the early 1990s, 1News reports, citing a sentencing hearing in the NSW District Court on Monday.
Cameron, now 62 and known as the Moore Park Rapist, targeted women in Moore Park and the inner west between 1991 and 1993. He was arrested in February 2024 after police secretly collected a glass and fork he used at an airport and matched his DNA. He had been working as a funeral director in Alice Springs.
His lawyer described a traumatic childhood and a recent stress-related diagnosis. Judge John Pickering said that did not explain premeditated attacks on eight women. Cameron, who has pleaded guilty to 13 charges, told the court in a letter that he was remorseful.
