Marine Le Pen used her first rally of the 2027 presidential campaign, in Orléans on Sunday, to present herself as a guardian of France rather than an anti-establishment outsider, Politico Europe reports.
Addressing more than 8,500 supporters at the close of a two-day National Rally congress, the far-right leader said she wanted a real change of power, not a revolution, while repeating promises to restore order, tighten borders and expel undocumented migrants.
Polls make her the clear front-runner, with Politico's mid-October average putting her on 34 per cent. The rally came amid weeks of street protests, a budget stand-off and French borrowing costs rising above 5 per cent. Socialist leader Olivier Faure blamed the party's rhetoric for Friday's shooting in Trappes, which President Macron called a racist terrorist attack; the National Rally rejected the charge.
