The rental company Lime has told riders its e-bikes are "not for jousting" after two artists in full suits of armour charged at each other on its bikes in east London, New Zealand broadcaster 1News reports. The free public event at London Fields in Hackney, staged by Jack Carden and Cam Tholomew, saw the pair try to knock each other off with lances.
Carden, an artist and online personality who was born in New Zealand, described it as performance art. Hundreds of people watched and footage spread widely online. A Lime spokesperson said the company appreciated the medieval spirit but that safety came first, adding that its bikes were meant for getting around the city and that it discouraged anyone from attempting similar stunts.
