President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro traded accusations of corruption and argued over the cost of living in the final televised debate before Sunday's presidential run-off in Brazil, The Japan Times reports, carrying a Reuters story.
The debate, broadcast by Globo, the country's most-watched channel, lasted more than two hours and was held in Rio de Janeiro on Friday. Both candidates restated their main proposals on welfare, security and household costs as they tried to win over undecided voters.
Bolsonaro, the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, finished ahead of Lula in the first round earlier this month, but opinion polls this week have shown the two roughly level after the gap between them narrowed.
