Vodafone is deploying software from network firm CUJO AI that uses artificial intelligence on millions of its home broadband routers with Wi-Fi 7 to track how well individual apps perform, GB News reports. The system measures latency, packet loss and throughput and turns them into a score of 0 to 100 per cent for each application.
Vodafone says the software does not inspect the content of data or use customer details, and that engineers will use the scores to find network upgrades that improve service. The company says it is the first provider in Europe to use the technology at scale on a live network.
Oscar Gallego, Vodafone's director of home technology and products, said a good broadband experience required looking beyond headline speeds. Vodafone is also testing download speeds of 8Gbps on full-fibre lines.
