The 2026 France-Nigeria Business Forum, due to be held in Lagos on 29 October, has been postponed after the French and Nigerian presidents agreed to delay Emmanuel Macron's state visit, Nigeria's Premium Times reports. An email from the France-Nigeria Business Council said the visit was now expected in 2027 and new dates for the forum would follow.
Premium Times previously reported that Macron and President Bola Tinubu called off the trip because of the continuing protests in France, Nigeria's presidential election due in about three months, and the country's recently confirmed Ebola case. The paper said Tinubu was concerned the timing could prompt claims of foreign influence.
The visit was meant to return Tinubu's state visit to France in 2024 and to anchor this year's French Week events in Nigeria.
