The advocacy group Muslim Votes Matter will tell supporters to rank Labor above One Nation in every lower house seat at Victoria's state election on 28 November, The Guardian reports. It is a change from last year's federal election, when the pro-Palestinian group backed Greens and independents to punish Labor over its response to the war in Gaza.
National spokesperson Ghaith Krayem said circumstances had changed and that a strongly anti-Labor campaign risked helping Pauline Hanson's party. The group plans to send volunteers to Greenvale in Melbourne's north and Narre Warren South in the south-east, Labor seats seen as vulnerable to One Nation. It will still not put Labor first on its how-to-vote cards. Opposition leader Jess Wilson has not said how the Coalition will handle preferences.
