Nigeria's opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied claims by the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) that it has failed to pay its employees for more than a year, Premium Times reports.
The allegation was made by Dele Alake, spokesperson for the APC presidential campaign council, who also raised questions about the employment records of former vice-president Atiku Abubakar and ex-Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola.
In a statement on Monday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi called the claim false and challenged the APC to produce evidence. He accused the ruling party of trying to distract from the cost of living, unemployment and insecurity under President Bola Tinubu, and said the ADC would keep its campaign focused on living costs ahead of the 2027 elections.
The paper noted that the ADC did not publish payroll records to support its denial.
