Fifty members of the House of Lords have asked Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to stop the American rapper Macklemore entering Britain for a concert at the OVO Arena Wembley on 30 October, GB News reports.
The cross-party letter, first reported by The Telegraph and led by Lord Walney, asks for his electronic travel authorisation to be revoked on the grounds that his visit would not be conducive to the public good. Signatories include Lord Pickles, Baroness Foster and Lord Brady.
Macklemore has said proceeds from his Free Palestine tour, which also visits Dublin and Paris, will go to the Palestinian Youth Movement. Critics accuse the group of glorifying the Hamas attacks of 7 October 2023, which it denies. The tour follows his removal from Ed Sheeran's US tour in September after pro-Palestine chants on stage.
