Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has said the NFL would have cancelled Sunday's game in Paris if the security situation were unsafe, Al Jazeera reports, as France prepares for more protests on Saturday.
The Steelers play the New Orleans Saints at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, about 10km from the Place de la Bastille, where Saturday's demonstrations are due to start. It is the league's first regular-season game in the French capital. Rodgers said he was confident it would go ahead and that the NFL was alert to events.
The Steelers have called off a fan event in the Bastille area, and the US State Department has advised Americans to avoid demonstrations. Storm Austen has added to the disruption, with the Steelers cancelling Friday's training session because of the weather and the NFL closing its fan zone for the day.
