Russell Brand has given evidence in his own defence at Southwark Crown Court in London, denying three counts of rape, three of sexual assault and one of attempted indecent assault, 1News reports, citing the Associated Press.
The 51-year-old actor and comedian told the jury he had been obsessed with sex as a younger man but insisted he had never forced any of the six women who accuse him into anything against their will. He said the allegations had had a devastating effect on his life, costing him friends and work, and that he was barred from staying with his baby son in Great Ormond Street Hospital after the claims were first published in 2023.
The jury earlier heard from the six women, whose allegations cover 1999 to 2009. The prosecution has described Brand as a manipulative sexual predator. The trial continues.
