Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum says two-thirds of the work under her government's Plan Michoacán, a peace and justice programme for the state, is now done, with 1,680 of more than 2,500 planned measures carried out, Mexico News Daily reports. The plan was drawn up after the murder of Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo in November 2025.
At her Wednesday morning press conference, Sheinbaum said planned spending under the programme for 2025 to 2030 had risen to 118 billion pesos, more than double the original 57 billion, and that about 61 per cent has already been spent. Ministers set out investment in highways, an industrial park in Zinapécuaro and scholarships for around 795,000 students in the state. The presentation focused on areas other than security, with a security update due next Tuesday.
