Three police officers were hurt in County Down, Northern Ireland, when a lorry they had tried to stop was driven on the wrong side of the road and struck their car at speed, BBC News reports. Police were called shortly before 23:30 BST over a blue articulated lorry swerving on Moygannon Road near Warrenpoint, and officers found a matching vehicle on the Derryleckagh Road in Newry. According to Ch Insp Will Brown, the driver failed to stop and sped off, colliding with the police car, which was badly damaged, before heading towards Rostrevor. The lorry eventually halted in the Water Street area of the village, and its 36-year-old driver was caught after a brief chase on foot. He has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. None of the officers is thought to be seriously hurt.
