Voters across the United States are deciding 145 proposed laws and constitutional amendments alongside Tuesday's midterm elections, with abortion among the most contested issues, PBS NewsHour reports, citing the Associated Press. Several measures test support for President Donald Trump's priorities, including redrawing congressional districts, restricting transgender athletes and tightening voter identification rules.
In Missouri, where voters two years ago overturned a near-total abortion ban, a Republican-backed measure would repeal that 2024 amendment and replace it with a new ban containing exceptions for medical emergencies, foetal anomalies and, up to 12 weeks, rape or incest. Abortion rights groups have heavily outspent opponents there. In Idaho and Nevada, proposals would block bans before foetal viability, with Nevada voting for the second and final time. Virginia is also voting on an abortion rights amendment.
