Jacob Allen Morley, who was serving a murder sentence when he broke out of a Tennessee jail more than a week ago, has been caught near Kansas City, Missouri, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said on Tuesday, NBC News reports. Officials discovered the 28-year-old was missing from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville late on 25 October, and security footage showed he had got through a perimeter fence.
He is accused of stealing a pickup truck, which was later found abandoned behind a business in Marion, Illinois. Morley was convicted in 2025 of murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and aggravated burglary over the 2022 killing of his co-worker Cody Birchfield. He had been placed on the state's most wanted list. Birchfield's sister told NBC News that she regarded him as very dangerous.
