Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is due in Norway on Tuesday for talks with Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finland's President Alexander Stubb, with the US special envoy Steve Witkoff also travelling to Oslo, RFE/RL reports.
The Norwegian government said Ukraine had asked for Witkoff and Jared Kushner to join the meetings, which aim to put diplomacy on a more constructive footing. Kushner, who is unwell, will take part remotely. Zelensky is also expected to meet the Norwegian king and visit parliament.
The talks come amid strained relations with Washington. President Trump recently said it was time for someone else to negotiate on Ukraine's behalf, and has eased some pressure on Russian oil exports. Russian strikes continued overnight, with deaths reported in the Kyiv region and more than 30,000 households in Odesa region left without power, according to the energy company DTEK.
