Two people, a man aged 35 and a boy of six, died after a truck was driven across a field during a youth soccer match at the Stryker Sports Complex in north-east Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Eleven other people aged between five and 68 were hurt, ten of them seriously but not critically, according to the Guardian. Officers detained the driver, a 34-year-old woman from Garden City in western Kansas, at the scene and said two children were in the truck with her. Officers said she had a valid licence and no outstanding warrants, and her motive was not yet clear. Both of those killed were from McPherson, Kansas, and were not related. The complex has cancelled all events until further notice.
