Representatives of seven New Zealand parties were due to face questions submitted entirely by members of the public in TVNZ's final election debate on Wednesday evening, 1News reports, three days before Saturday's general election. The broadcaster's Q+A People's Debate, moderated by Jack Tame, was to feature National's Nicola Willis, Labour's Kieran McAnulty, ACT leader David Seymour, NZ First's Shane Jones, Greens co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick, Te Pāti Māori's Oriini Kaipara and Opportunity leader Qiulae Wong.
The debate took a slot planned for a second leaders' debate, which National leader Christopher Luxon turned down. More than a million people have already voted. The latest 1News Verian poll suggests neither the left nor right bloc would win a majority, meaning National or Labour may need Opportunity's backing alongside their usual partners. Nine per cent of voters remain undecided.
