Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke by phone on Wednesday with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the White House envoys handling efforts to end Russia's war, the Kyiv Independent reports. Zelensky said the conversation lasted about 90 minutes and covered air defence munitions, a US-Ukraine drone agreement and security guarantees after the war, which he said must be ironclad.
The call came before a new round of three-way technical talks between Ukrainian, Russian and US delegations, due in Abu Dhabi on 10 November. Those talks could pave the way for a summit of Zelensky, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. US officials also met European partners in Brussels on Wednesday to coordinate positions. Zelensky said Ukraine urgently needed Patriot interceptors. Kyiv wants a ceasefire on current front lines, while Moscow continues to demand that Ukraine give up territory it still holds.
