Oslo's city government plans to reduce the number of rental e-scooters allowed in the Norwegian capital and introduce a minimum age of 16 for riders, NRK reports, citing the newspaper VG. The overall limit on shared electric vehicles will stay at 16,000, but no more than 12,000 of them may be e-scooters, down from 16,000 at present.
The remaining 4,000 places will be reserved for electric bicycles when the city launches a new tender for operators. City government leader Eirik Lae Solberg of the Conservative Party told VG that increasing the number of e-bikes would let people keep travelling around the city without a car. He said the fixed age limit for both e-bikes and e-scooters was meant to improve safety for riders and for pedestrians.
