Apple is letting developers build its new Siri AI features into their own apps, The Verge reports. With the iOS 27.3 update released on Tuesday as a developer preview, the voice assistant can carry out tasks inside third-party apps using a person's personal context, natural-language requests and awareness of what is on screen.
A new feature called app skills lets developers combine several steps into a single action. Apple says users will not need to name an app if it is already open, showing a Live Activity, or being discussed with Siri. In one example, a user could book a ride and then ask Siri to change the pickup address. Apple is also extending the expanded assistant to its own apps, including Calendar, Mail, Maps, Messages, Photos, Notes and Safari. Developers previously had access to a smaller set of features.
