Two new polls put councillor Brad Bradford narrowly ahead of Mayor Olivia Chow in Toronto's mayoral election, which takes place on 26 October, the National Post reports. Mainstreet Research found 48.9% of decided voters backing Bradford against 47.5% for Chow, though 13.4% of all respondents were still undecided. A Build Canada poll that included leaning voters gave Bradford 48% and Chow 44%.
Mainstreet's chief executive, Quito Maggi, said the race was too close to call but described the shift as seismic, noting that Chow had led throughout until October. He said turnout would decide the result, and that Bradford led among older voters, who are more likely to vote. Advance voting has been almost double the 2023 level. Respondents ranked affordability and the cost of living as the top issue, followed by traffic and transit.
