Brazil recorded a US$9.3 billion goods surplus last month, nearly 40 per cent higher than a year earlier, after outbound shipments climbed close to US$38 billion, figures cited by The Rio Times show. Commodity and manufactured exports outpaced import growth and padded an already large year-to-date surplus that supports the currency and public accounts. Economists are watching whether softer global prices cool the run later. Brasilia continues to balance industrial policy goals against heavy reliance on raw-material sales.
