A cattle lorry fell from a motorway overpass in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, early on Sunday, landing on a car and leaving dozens of animals dead, ABC News reported.

Police said the truck was carrying between 120 and 130 cattle when it overturned on a curve of westbound Interstate 70 and dropped onto southbound I-35 shortly before 3am. Between 45 and 60 animals were killed. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

Surviving cattle wandered through the streets, causing further crashes. Some walked several miles before being caught. Authorities used drones to track them before workers on horseback rounded them up, and police later said all the animals had been accounted for. Several roads were closed during the operation.
