The Electoral Commission has fined Reform UK £2,187 after four pieces of election material reached voters without an imprint, the line that tells readers who published and paid for a message, The Guardian reports.
The original penalty was £1,750, due on 23 September. Because Nigel Farage's party missed that deadline, the regulator raised it by a quarter, and Reform paid on 20 October. The commission said imprint rules exist so voters can see who is behind campaign material, and that it acts in proportion to each case.
The paper said the fine is separate from an earlier complaint over a letter in the Gorton and Denton by-election, which the party blamed on a printing error. The ruling comes as Reform says it has reported ITV journalists to police after the broadcaster's undercover investigation into its members.
