Body camera and surveillance video has emerged showing the moments before a police officer opened fire on a car outside a Walmart in Senatobia, Mississippi, in June, killing one-year-old Kohen Wiley, CBS News reports.
The footage shows officers running from the store after being told a suspected shoplifter was driving off, then surrounding the car and shouting for it to stop. The driver, a friend of the boy's mother, moves forward and nearly hits an officer, at which point one officer fires.
The state attorney general, Lynn Fitch, said this week the use of force was justified and no charges would be brought. The family's lawyer, Ben Crump, says the women deny shoplifting; neither has been charged. State officials said the video would be released officially after the family had seen it.
