The defence ministers of the UK, France, Germany, Poland and Italy are holding talks in Paris on Monday to discuss more military help for Ukraine, European defence and the conflict in the Middle East, Al Jazeera reports, citing French officials.
The five countries pledged continued backing for Kyiv when they last met in Berlin in June. The talks come as cross-border attacks continue: a Russian strike injured four people in Zaporizhzhia on Monday, while Russian officials said a Ukrainian drone attack on Voronezh killed two and wounded 17, many of them on a commuter train hit by falling debris.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday that Ukraine would stop targeting Russian oil refineries, as Donald Trump has demanded, only if Moscow stopped attacking Ukraine's power grid. Ukrainian, Russian and US negotiators are expected to meet in Abu Dhabi in early November.
