Finland's public broadcaster Yle is attracting huge audiences with Pentulive, a continuous live stream of a dog called Hilkka and her new litter, RNZ reports, citing CNN.
Hilkka, a Lagotto Romagnolo, had six puppies on 10 October, and the camera will follow them until they go to new homes in December. Now in its sixth season, the stream is a form of "slow TV", since the puppies spend most of the day asleep.
Yle says the page had 6.5 million views last year, more than Finland's population of about 5.66 million, with 20 million views on social media, and this year's figures look set to be higher. Researchers quoted in the report said the calm, feel-good viewing offers comfort as Finland heads into its long, dark winter. Viewers will help choose the puppies' names.
