Google has started rolling out Personal Intelligence, a Gemini feature that draws on users' own data to answer requests, to Android Auto, Ars Technica reports. It will reach cars with Google software built into their infotainment systems over the next few months. The feature launched earlier this year as a paid option before being extended to all Gemini users, and remains optional in the car.
Google argues the tool suits driving because it reduces the need to give detailed instructions. A driver could ask to be taken to a doctor's appointment, with Gemini finding the details in a linked calendar, or start navigation to a place identified in their photos. Ars notes that the more personal information an AI system can see, the better its answers tend to be, which it calls useful but uncomfortable. Unusually, phone-based Android Auto gets it first.
