Grenada election campaign enters final two weeks

·

Grenada's general election campaign has entered its final fortnight ahead of the vote on 5 November, The Rio Times reports. All 15 seats in the House of Representatives are being contested, and eight are needed to govern.

Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell's National Democratic Congress, which won nine seats to six in 2022, is seeking a second term. The opposition New National Party is led by Emmalin Pierre, the first woman to lead it into a general election, who has promised to cut corporation tax from 28% to 25% and to extend free student transport and bus services. The Democratic People's Movement is also expected to stand.

Mitchell has dismissed talk of a hung parliament. No published poll has been found, and a High Court claim on the electoral process is pending.
