Prosecutors in Idaho will seek the death penalty against Andrea Shaw, a 23-year-old woman charged with murdering her 18-month-old twins in 2025, ABC News reports, citing the Associated Press.
Ms Shaw has pleaded not guilty and has said the toddlers fell ill and died after receiving flu and routine childhood vaccines. Payette County prosecutors say an autopsy found signs consistent with smothering and argue suffocation is the only plausible explanation. They have listed four aggravating factors, including multiple killings and continuing danger to society.
The twins were found dead in their bed on 1 May 2025, eight days after vaccination. Ms Shaw later appeared on a programme made by the anti-vaccine group Children's Health Defense and is a plaintiff in its lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics. Medical experts say the vaccines involved are safe. Her trial is set for January.
