Juneau's Visitor Industry Task Force is inviting public comment as it prepares final advice to the city Assembly on how to manage the city's tourism industry, the Juneau Empire reports. Its draft recommendations, released on 22 October, focus on downtown congestion, helicopter flightseeing noise, whale-watching and better data to guide future policy.
Residents can give evidence at a session in the Mendenhall Valley library on 5 November or by phone through the City Clerk's Office, and written comments can be sent at any time. The ten-member group was set up by Mayor Beth Weldon in November 2025. Its work has included reviewing its 2020 proposals, looking at crowding in downtown and Auke Bay, a possible permit system for whale-watching, and comparing the city's fees for the industry with those elsewhere.
