A 27-year-old man has been jailed for 15 years for his part in the 2021 killing of Kathleen Richardson in her home in Naramata, British Columbia, Global News reports. Ekene Anigbo was convicted of manslaughter earlier this year after the judge ruled the Crown had not proved which of the two men involved fired the shots. He had originally faced a first-degree murder charge.
The court heard that Anigbo and Jalen Falk broke into the house looking for Richardson's son in a gang-related revenge attack. Richardson, 57, was tied up and shot. Justice Allison Beames called the killing senseless. With time served credited, Anigbo has just over 14 years left to serve. The Crown had asked for a life sentence, while the defence sought 12 to 14 years.
